Super nice location, super large rooms.
My hostel stay was very nice, hostel right next to the beach, empty dorm room, cute little town, everything seemed perfect. However I ended up leaving a bad taste in my mouth. After check out the Mistress of the house tried to shoo me away while I waited for a friend to return from a morning/afternoon excursion. I offered to go to a caf but she said it was fine, but obviously want me gone which made me feel very uncomfortable. She told me that she wanted to leave the hostel clean and free for 'paying costumers'. Firstly, we were ideal guests always leaving the kitchen exactly how we left it. Second, we had stayed not one but two nights and paid her in full without any complaint. Thirdly, with a name like Ballycastle Backpackers you'd expect backpackers to be hanging around. And finally, as she was telling me this the common area was COMPLETELY EMPTY. I wonder why she cared so much that I was hanging out an extra few hours after check out. Also the last buses in the area were around 18:30 and being backpackers we could exactly afford to rent a car, so my friend wanted to catch a certain attraction before we left for Belfast later that day. Anyway watch out for this lady because she is fake and rude after you give her the money...
Had a lovely stay at Ballycastle backpackers. Clean and cosy room with a beautiful view of the harbor and ocean. Absolutely stunning! Our wonderful host went out of her way to do some of our laundry as we had a fall in some mud the day before and had been doing some hiking in the rain. Such a kind and hospitable host. Quaint little kitchen area with breakfast provided made for a great start to our morning as well! Definitely recommend staying at Ballycastle Backpackers and wish we could have stayed longer!
